"Hair's" a first!... :)

Autumn got her first hair cut on Friday the 11th. My friend Karyn came over that afternoon to do the deed. She gave me a trim beforehand; I needed one and I hoped that by Autumn seeing me get my hair cut, it would help her feel less apprehensive about having hers done. Turns out that she didn't pay hardly any attention 'cause she wanted to give toys to Karyn's baby or go downstairs to play with Brandon, Ethan (they didn't have school) and Karyn's other two children. :) I was worried about how she'd do because the boys were both nine months old when they got their first hair cuts, and they were holy terrors! (They continued that trend for a couple of years too!) ...Well, I'm happy to report that Autumn did such a good job!! :) Although she'd been saying that morning that she "not wan get haiw cut," and said it again a few times once Karyn was here, she didn't fight or flail or cry or scream. She did moan just a tiny bit a couple of times, but she held still for the most part and seemed to really like her 'cape.' (In fact later that night, she tried to put a blanket around her and said something about doing a hair cut...) She stayed comforted by her binky for part of the time and stayed distracted by Blue's Clues on TV and the carrots (play food) in her hands that she kept calling pickles, which amused me because aside from the reddish color, they looked more like pickles than carrots, especially since she's only seen baby carrots, I believe! :)


The experience wasn't without cringing and slightly shying away at times, mostly from the water spray and the blow-dryer...
