bumped & bruised

Can you see the "goose egg" & bruise on Autumn's forehead??? Poor thing. It actually has looked worse in person. Jeanine, who claims to be A's favorite aunt, was playin' around (Friday night the 15th) and slung Autumn over her shoulder just in time to BONK! her forehead on Rylee's head. Autumn was so hurt that she instantly busted into one of her high-pitched, hysterical cries where she doesn't breathe for what feels like too long--I hate it. Rylee used to do that too. Her forehead rapidly formed a "goose egg" and the discoloration quickly spread. If it hadn't been my adorable daughter, I probably would've thought it was a fascinating moment of the human body. Anyway, this all happened right before Jeanine was getting ready to leave and she'd made some comment to Autumn about spending the night at her house. Then the boys caught wind of it and immediately started begging me. Somewhere in there, BONK! occurred which lead Jeanine & I to re-think her going to spend the night. Well, I had generally gotten Autumn calmed down--she was still breathing shaky sobs, but no more sobbing--and then she realized that she was now not going to go. (I think by this point she was already strapped in Jeanine's car.) ...Oh. My. Gosh. The crying started right back up, tears just rolling down her cheeks. ...Fine. OK. Go ahead. Jeanine was feeling less worried about A's condition by that point. I think Jeanine & Rylee told her that if she was going to go with them, she needed to to stop crying. That was one of the fastest 'cry stops' she's ever done. Well, maybe Jeanine really is her favorite aunt, even after wounding her... :) (Obviously, I know Jeanine didn't mean to hurt her & I know she felt really bad about it...and she didn't know Rylee was there when she threw Autumn over her shoulder. Thought I better add that. Don't want y'all thinkin' I'm trying to be cruel to Jeanine by posting about this...) :)
