5K #5

This one was held at the hospital in Jeanine's city. That's where Brandon was born. It was a fundraiser for the cancer center there. That's where Jeanine had all of her treatments done. This was her first 5K. It didn't start 'til 9. Though I don't like getting up at the crack of dawn, I didn't care for how bright & warm it was while running this race. We jogged together for a little over the first mile, and then she slowed to walking and I sped up to a faster pace--must've been the song I was listening to. :) Though I was in only a small amount of pain, I was particularly winded this race. I reached that point on mile 2 where I had to positively talk to myself in my head. I really pushed myself. I wanted to a better time than last 5K, and I don't mean by a handful of seconds. I wanted a substantial improvement. I was still able to find that spot when I knew I was nearing the finish line to pick up my stride and I practically sprinted (my version of sprinting, mind you) across it. Some girl tried to pass me, but this time I saw her out of the corner of my eye, so I turned it up yet another notch to make sure she didn't beat me at the last second. I hate that. Have I mentioned that before?? :) Anyway, I'm pleased with how I did. My last time was 36:04 and it was 34:06 on Saturday. I beat Jeanine by 4 minutes-ish. She did well for her first 5K. ...Notice our pink ribbons? Don't know if everyone had one in their packets, but we proudly donned ours. I know it's absolutely crazy of me, but since being such a close part of Jeanine's breast cancer experience, occasionally I think that now I'll be more prepared for when I get it. And then Jeanine can help me through my journey with it. Kooky, I know. ...Oh, Jeanine got that medal for being a cancer survivor. We were both kinda surprised that there weren't more in attendance. ...So, yet another great 5K. And this one was even better 'cause I got to share it with my sista!

Great job! I've never looked before but I bet they have a lot of breast cancer runs this month. Congrats to your sister for doing her first 5K.

WAY TO GO! I just finally started running a couple of weeks ago, after the 6 week mark of Collin, but it is SO hard with huge breasts...I need to time myself again, but that is AWESOME!

Congrats! There is another breast cancer run by Liberty Park on the 11th. We are going to run with Mark's bro's family from Payson. I think it's a 5 k. That's about I can handle right now! You are so good to run!
