St. Paul's continued (...and Happy Birthday, Grandma Bev!)

just about everyone shuffles along, practically in slow motion, from one exhibit to another, horse-shoeing around the church, with eyes wide open in awe, minds deep in thought. a hush lingers in the air. it's overwhelming. it's heart-wrenching. and it's INSPIRINGLY RESPLENDENT.

this was one of my VERY most favorite pieces... click on it to see it in more detail.

so many PDs' and FDs' patches were sent in support from all over the U.S. and beyond...

these were actually worn at the time...

this was another HIGHLIGHT for me: when the search & rescue efforts were in effect (and then later the clean-up), the workers would come to the church to rest, and oftentimes just slump onto the bench in pure exhaustion. all of these scuff marks are from their boots (or other gear), and rather than refinish, it was decided to leave the marks as a TRIBUTE to all of the blood, sweat and tears given 'round the clock to Ground Zero...
