Here are those pics from the boys' b-days (which are 5 days apart in May, for those of you who don't know) I said I would post...We had a family birthday dinner on Ethan's b-day here, and we also sang to Brandon that day with a slice from E's cake (Ethan said he was fine with that), so they could wish B well then, since it wasn't really going to work out to have a separate family birthday dinner for him a week or two later...This is the first year since Brandon was 2 years old (that was when the 1st friend party was held) that B or E didn't have a friend party--combined or individual...they were disappointed, but they understood after we talked with them about it. They didn't get presents from us either; are we lame parents, or what?! Ethan had some money he owed us for bashing a hole in the wall with his foot going down the stairs, and also for leaving his bike in the way of the FJ, so one of its tires' metal rims got way bent out of shape. So, his "present" was not having to pay out of his account/b-day money for those things. How exciting for an 8 year old, right??! (Maybe we aren't lame; maybe mean is the better word...) Brandon (and Ethan, for that matter) needs new shoes, but I talked them into waiting until closer to "back to school" time--told them it's OK to just keep wearing out the shoes they have this summer. So, Brandon didn't really 'receive' any sort of present from us... (In our defense, they have gotten some pretty cool/more expensive b-day gifts in the recent past...) To put it bluntly, having no job/sufficient income sucks...!! Now that's something me and Peter can both agree on...

Did you forget the "0" for Brandon's cake? Looks like they had a good birthday without parties or presents. You aren't lame parents.
we didn't have a zero, so we did it without--he was fine about it! ;-) thanks, Mae...i know we aren't lame, but every now & then, i wonder for a passing moment.! :)
