EEEEE-EWWWW!!!!

We don't like the Yankees. Actually, that is putting it too mildly. We STRONGLY DISLIKE the Yankees. We always root against them. We try to disguise our cringes (sometimes) when we see Yankees' shirts and/or hats, and unfortunately, it happens very often. And while I'm on that topic, what IS up with that, anyway??? Is it the cool thing according to someone somewhere to like the Yankees?? Who is this someone somewhere with so much "authority"? And is it an unwritten rule for celebrities to be Yankees fans? Aagh.....!!! Be ORIGINAL, for cryin' out loud, people! ANYWAY...I'm finished with my rant, for now... ;-) ...As I grew up, I learned that my family didn't care for the Yankees. (In case you didn't know, I was and still am fairly "into" sports; I wonder had I not grown up less than a year older than Michael [couldn't resist the opportunity to mention that, bro! :)], if I would've turned out like I did...well, as far as sports go...haaa!! :) I think it's mostly because my Grandpa Baker was such an avid Dodgers fan. I still remember him sitting in his Lazy Boy, intently staring at the TV, wringing his hands on occasion and hollering at the TV. ...Peter grew up rooting for the Dodgers and against the Yankees, taught by his Dodger fan dad. They'd cheer on the Giants before they would the Yankees. Peter's grandma (his dad's mom; 89 years old) is still a big Dodgers fan. ......So, me and P have passed this 'family tradition' down to the boys. ...Our luck was raunchy this season; BOTH of the boys got put on Yankees teams!!!! :( It was bad enough when we learned that Brandon was doomed to wear a Yankees hat and their name on his shirt. Then, 'bout a week later, Ethan came home from practice with a hat & shirt. GAG!!! Brandon wanted to wear his hat out to play one time. I said NO, and Peter quickly chimed in NO. Knowing our kids, he most definitely asked why, to which I replied with some kind of a reminder of our dislike of the Yankees, also saying something like, "it's bad enough you have to wear it for your games!" Around that same time, Ethan asked Peter, "Dad, who would you root for if the Utes and the Yankees played each other??" ;-) I was curious what his answer would be. But all he said was, "Uhh, I don't know...! They'll never face each other, so I don't have to worry about it." ......So, I think we're handling our unfortunate circumstances pretty well... We are careful, however, to never yell out, "Go Yankees!"
