thought i should post that Brandon played his 2nd season of basketball... he had his first practice on January 8th and his first game early on the 10th. it seems like they're making an effort to put the kids with a previous coach--B had his same coach as last season, and a handful of the same teammates. that guy is a really good coach; he's also coached a fall season of soccer for Ethan. with the boundary changes (taking 3 wards and making 4) made on Jan. 4th, he and his family are now in our ward. it's just too bad he's a Ute fan. ha. :) B had a great time. obviously, he has improved from a year ago. i was pleased with how aggressive he was; he hung way back during a lot of his 1st season. i'll have to make sure he keeps it in check though--don't want him turning into his 'foul friendly' mom. (don't know if that phrase makes sense, but i like how it sounds, so hopefully you catch my drift.) for those of you who don't know, i played a few seasons of girls' basketball at church (during which i had a couple of technicals called on me, to put it simply) as well as b-ball at good ol' (scary) Jackson Middle School (during which i had to be careful i didn't foul out of the game so i could keep playing). (those of you in Orlando, does that place even exist anymore?? wouldn't be surprised to hear that it's been blown up.) ...ANYWAY, B averaged a basket and a half (is my guess) a game. his season ended on February 21st. didn't take any pics this year; you are welcome to look back at last year's photos. he probably doesn't look that different. taller and a little older-looking, probably.
so, that's that. i just signed up the boys for baseball, and we'll be finding more about those seasons next month, i believe. OH, the boys joined the art club at their school, so since Jan. 20th, on every other Tuesday, they stay for an hour and learn some basics about art. they like it. and like usual, Ethan is easily frustrated and placing expectations for himself way too high. but they like to draw, so i think it's a good experience for them. also, they're both participating in the spelling bee on Thursday; i'll try to post about that as close to the event as possible.........
