the last few photos from Friday, Dec. 5th

back to NYC...

me and a view of Times Square--kinda-sorta reminded me of the strip in Vegas, but it seemed less sleazy; at any rate, if i had to choose, i'd rather go back to Times Square...

this photo was taken just for you, Donna...!! :) and may any other James Bond/Daniel Craig fans enjoy it as well...

while we were waiting to hear back from Andy, we walked down the street and checked out the store here...and of course i said, let's take pictures... :) i can see how i'd started to feel warm here...i broke into a sweat once we went inside somewhere; it was so uncomfortable, but when we were only inside for a short bit, it wasn't worth shedding all of my layers... (obviously, when we were going to be inside for longer, i quickly stripped down to my clothes [though it was kind of a pain to lug my 'stuff' around]. there were a couple of times i wished i could've also taken at least my top off since i so smartly wore long-sleeved shirts {well, here i'm still wearing my dress and it's short-sleeved, but anyway......} to keep from freezing outside, but man, it must be city-wide rule to crank the heaters to 80 degrees, 'cuz that's how it would feel!!)

i can't remember now what time it was by the time we got back to Andy's apartment, but it was late. i'd say after 10:30, if i had to take a stab at it. and Karyn and i were pooped. but mostly, we were starving. do you remember when i wrote about the last time we ate???? i don't. and though we'd finally shared the pinkberry at Times Square while waiting to hear from Andy outside the hotel where her work party was, we were still famished. it was all i could do to keep from inhaling the two large slices of cake i'd purchased!! while shakily breaking off a bite with a fork, we deliberated about ordering delivery. i was instantly swept up & away into delightful delirium....!! i can't remember now which slice i tried first--german chocolate or red velvet--but, WHOA...pure delectable heaven!!! i managed to slowly savor each bite, as well as offer some to Andy and Karyn--hey, i'm proud of myself. next to Bonnie's cake that i haven't had for over 15 years, this cake was the very best cake i've ever had and, i'm willing to venture, that it might remain in my top 3 of cakes i'll ever taste!! if you ever go to NYC, let me know so i can make sure you have the name and locations of the amazing bakery where i got this oh-so-delicious dessert! (i'm practically salivating just typing about it...!!) anyway, we did end up getting Chinese delivered (another city experience), and we were pleasantly surprised at how reasonably priced it was and quickly it arrived...and, most importantly, how YUMMY it was! it definitely made my top 4! so, after Karyn and i stuffed ourselves, i waited a little while to finish off those exquisite cake slices not long before brushing my teeth and hitting the couch. ahhhhhhh.....! ...we spent another hour or two talking, me crying some and laughing before we shut up and drifted to sleep...

and lest you think i forgot, i haven't. the pinkberry was quite tasty. ...i know. probably sounds less than exciting after my rant about the cake. but it was truly great! for those of you who don't know, i do NOT like yogurt, and i struggle with a lot of frozen yogurts. it's that after-taste. iiicccck. i was REALLY happy to discover Hogi Yogi when i went to college in Rexburg. and, every so often, i still enjoy it to this day. at pinkberry, i got raspberry flavored frozen yogurt with mangoes on top. so refreshing, despite the below-freezing temperature! i gobbled up my portion (i shared with K) fairly quickly, but i still thought it was the best tasting frozen yogurt i'd tried in a really long time. i even embraced the after-taste. it was surprisingly ok! (or maybe i was just THAT hungry--ha!) and since i know you're wondering, i would rank it in my top 3 for kinds-from-a-franchise-and-not-from-the-frozen-foods-section-of-the-grocery-store... ;-)
