the rest of day 3

back to NYC............after the toy store, we hailed (well, Karyn & Andy did; that's one thing i'm still kinda intimidated by) a cab to go to dinner. in case you've forgotten :), we were so exhausted and, of course, starving.

i snapped this picture moments after we exited FAO Schwarz. took it for Peter.

a view from our cab. i actually took a handful of photos on our 2 cab rides, but this is the only one that turned out well enough for me to post. couldn't get enough of the holiday spirit in that city...

can you see where we ate dinner?? it's a famous spot, and the guy who had been in front of us in line at Grimaldi's told us this was his favorite place to get cheesecake (you might muttering in your mind, "wonder if that guy weighed a lot"... :) ...i hate to admit it, but he actually was less overweight than us gals), and having cheesecake in New York was on our list of "must-do"s, and we were in that 'end' of the city, so off we went. and we didn't even have to wait for a table! they gave us a delicious assortment of pickles to partake of while we waited for our order to be taken and filled. initially, we couldn't figure out what to order. the prices were high, of course, though we'd caught a glimpse of the portion size (gigantic)...and as for myself, i wanted to save room for cheesecake. we ended up getting a pastrami sandwich to share, as well as a side of fries. the scrumptious sandwich was literally a foot tall...!! the fries were a normal portion, or maybe i'm just thinking that because they were so good and we were so hungry that we snarfed them all up before i could really see the portion size. ;-) ANYWAY, these were our desserts. Karyn got the cake, Andy the strawberry cheesecake, and i got the cherry cheesecake. and, of course, the slices were huge. we all shared some bites of our own. ...i had to take a picture of their beauty... :)

...OH MY, OH, MY OH MY... so freaking delicious!!!!!! i should probably state that i'm not necessarily a big cheesecake fan, especially if it's too cheesy-tasting. i usually like a little cheesecake with my fruit topping. i even asked the waiter if i could get extra topping on the side. he looked at me as if i was a tad bit koo-koo, and said something about 'that's not the way the cakes are made' or something to that effect. OK, that's fine, i said. and i carefully carved out my first bite. WOW...!!!! heaven to my taste buds!!! so exquisite!! absolutely perfect! and i ate almost the whole thing... :) SOOOO worth the 'full to the brim' feeling i had afterwards...!
