I did it!!

I've had the little potty out for at least a few months now, either in what we call "Autumn's bathroom" or in her bedroom, if we needed space in that small bathroom. I haven't been in any rush to potty-train, but I wanted the potty to be out so she can become more familiar with it on her level and if she wanted to, she could sit on it and give it a try. Almost every time she has seen it, she has said, "I nee go pee on my pah-ee." And all but a handful of times, Peter and I have responded with, "no, not right now--you can try later." (Are we lazy or what?! :) In our defense, most of those times have been when we're trying to get her changed & dressed before getting out the door or getting her down for a nap/to bed...we've been pressed for time.) When she had sat on her potty, even a few times while the water was running for her bath, she never got anything out. That didn't stop her from standing up and exclaiming, "I did it!" or just saying, "I'm done goin pee." ...Well, last Saturday night I was getting her pjs & a clean diaper out of her drawers (and her potty happened to be in her room at the time) when she declared once again that she needed to go pee on her potty and simultaneously took off her diaper. Then she sat down on it. Since there was no real urgency to get her diapered & 'jammied' and into bed, I decided to let her have a go at it. She said she was done after a minute or two, but then she kept sitting there and I think she said something that implied she'd changed her mind. I think I even left the room for a minute. Anyway, after I thought it'd been long enough and I didn't want her to get chilled hangin' out in her "birthday suit" any longer, I told her, "OK, you're done" and I helped her stand up. Perhaps it was the cool air (her room is one of the coldest in the house) or maybe it was lucky timing or probably it was a combination of both...at any rate, I did a double and then a triple take closer up to make sure I wasn't seein' things 'cause LO and BEHOLD--there was pee in her potty!!!!!! :) I got all excited, of course, and complemented her and then told her to get dad so we could show him. Peter was downstairs, so I had to help her out by hollering at him to come see what Autumn wanted to show him and he was like, "what's the big deal?" And I said, "come and see; you'll be pleased!" ...After Autumn showed him, I took a picture of her, naturally. :) Yes, the pee is still in the potty. (And if you're wondering, the stickers on the potty lid are from the first girl who used it over 6 years ago. Don't worry, it was clean when I got it and I sterilized it before using it!)

That is so awesome!! Erika always wants to sit on the potty and has actually gone poo in it 2 or 3 times and pee in it once. Natalie on the other hand won't have anything to do with it and is driving me crazy with her lack of interest. Agh! Good luck with Autumn. I hope she makes it easy for you. :)
